Water and Sanitation in Honduras – Peace Corps Masters International
The Peace Corps Honduras Water and Sanitation program focuses primarily (although not exclusively) on the water issues related to the rural population.  The rural population accounts for 55% of the total 7.5 million people in Honduras.  Slightly less than 80% of the rural population has access to improved drinking water defined as having access to at least 20 liters per person per day from a designated and/or protected source located within 1 km of the point of consumption. Also, in the rural areas, the water supply and treatment is significantly more unreliable and less available for the population at large.

In January 2005 Benjamin Latham and Kelly Latham started in the Peace Corps Masters International Program, a joint program between the US Peace Corps and select US universities.  They began a course of study at CSU in Watershed Science and were assigned by Peace Corps to work in Honduras as Water and Sanitation Engineers.
