ICWEHS will provide a forum for the interdisciplinary exchange of issues, views, experiences and needs for research in the areas of water, environment and health sciences under the influence of climate change.
   National Water Academy Introductory Program (pdf)
This program will cover basics of hydrology – surface and ground water processes; India's water budget – availability & requirement; Putting water to use - introduction to dams, barrages, canal, hydro-power structures, etc.; Extreme events - flood and drought management; Water quality and environmental flows in rivers; Trans basin transfer of water (ILR); National Water Policy; Social & environmental impacts of hydraulic infrastructure; and Water Sector Reforms, and a "familiarization visit" to a dam. The program is for three days duration, from 29 to 31 July 2009.
   5th World Water Forum 2009 (pdf) (website)
The World Water Forum is the main water-related event in the world, aimed at putting water firmly on the international agenda. The Forum offers the water community and policy-and-decision-makers from all over the world the unique opportunity to come together to create links, debate and attempts to find solutions to achieve water security. It is organised every three year by the World Water Council, in collaboration with the host country.

   Wetlands Workshop Call (pdf)
The University of Victoria in conjunction with the University of Alberta and Ducks Unlimited will host a workshop on “Wetlands Management, Economics and Policy” at the Hotel Grand Pacific in beautiful Victoria, British Columbia, January 13-15, 2010. Papers from the conference will be published in the Canadian Journal of Agricultural Economics (special issue) to appear in 2011.
   Dr. Ted Yang Wins the Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz International Prize for Surface Water of 500,000 Saudi Riyals (about $133,000)
The Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz International Prize for Surface Water of 500,000 Saudi Riyals is the highest prize in water related subjects. Dr. Yang is deeply honored by receiving the prize and hopes that this event will further enhance the international reputation of CSU in water.
   Kurt Fausch Honored with International Fisheries Science Prize
Kurt Fausch, professor in the Department of Fish, Wildlife and Conservation Biology at Colorado State University, has been named the first recipient of the International Fisheries Science Prize. The prestigious award, given by the World Council of Fisheries Societies for outstanding contributions to global fisheries and conservation, will be awarded every four years. Fausch received the prize at the fifth World Fisheries Congress in Yokohama, Japan, where he was also invited as a keynote speaker.
   U.S. Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar honors CSU Engineering professor
U.S. Interior Secretary Ken Salazar recently honored Jose 'Pepe' Salas, a Colorado State University civil and environmental engineering professor, and his partners at three other universities with the U.S. Department of the Interior Partners in Conservation Award for developing new operational guidelines for the Colorado River.
